How do we overcome our greatest obstacles in life?

Addiction and imperfection take on many forms. There are well-known addictions such as alcoholism that receive universal attention, but we also have other bad habits. At its core, addiction is repeated use of the same thing with little regard for harm to self or others. With that being said, more likely than not you have an unhealthy habit that you should address. This may appear as working out too frequently, spending too much time at work, being glued to video games, over-indulging with food, and countless others exist. Below are three simple steps that may be helpful to address your problems.

1. Recognize your problem

It is perfectly normal not to have an overt problem. However, with social media and the abundance of resources we have, there is probably something that you could address.

2. Take Baby Steps

Whatever aspect of addiction you are trying to fix, know that improvement will not come overnight. Make a weekly plan and dedicate 10 minutes per day focused on addressing the issue.

3. Find a healthy solution

Therapy, exercise, spending more time with loved ones, reading more, the list goes on. You need to find what suits you best. There could potentially be a long period of trial and error, and that is perfectly normal. Find out what healthy substitute works and stick to it!
